Preston Epplett

Preston began his accounting career in 1968. In 1981 he became a partner at McCulloch & Menzies. He later served as the partner in charge of the Hastings office when the firm used its international accounting name “Touche Ross”.
Preston was a partner of Richardson Epplett and Partners, before founding Epplett & Co. in April 2002. In 2021 Preston retired as a director of Epplett and Co Ltd and continued as a consultant. He is very proud to have his eldest daughter Sarah now as the owner of the practice and for his youngest daughter Kate to also be working in the firm.
He specialises in family group reorganisations including Trusts and Estates. His interest and knowledge of Information Technology made him the natural choice for to fulfil the role at the time of regional IT director for Touche Ross.
Preston is presently working towards his retirement and is usually in the office three days a week.
Preston is married to Jenny. They have four children and are proud grandparents to eight grandchildren.
Preston is an avid sports fan and has a particular interest in cricket and rugby. He is also a ten-pin bowler and plays in 2 weekly leagues. He is a past president of the NZ 55+ Tenpin Bowling Association, having served 6 years as President.
Preston is active in the community. He has filled a number of significant roles in the Catholic Parish of St Peter Chanel and in the Palmerston North Diocese. He also served as a board of trustees member of St Mary’s, Hastings for 10 years. Preston was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2015, a honour for outstanding service to the profession and community.
